So, I've heard a lot about the benefits of writing blog posts, and I've spent a lot of time wondering, "Am I really interesting enough to take this on?" The conclusion I've come to is, I don't think it matters if I don't think I am interesting. Maybe that will change as I start posting here. Anyways, me. Who am I?


I'm Kenzie, to some, Kenz, and I am a Photographer/Videographer based in Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada. I like goth music, and horror movies, and I was once a painter. Even started university for painting, but, I decided that wasn't my career path.

I found filmmaking during my first year at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, and I even picked it as my major over painting first. But, I second guessed myself. "Am I insane? How could I abandon everything I have worked for through my whole high school life just because I took one film class and liked it?" Well, I found that being behind the camera was comfortable to me. Not even just that, but I found that I was really passionate about capturing a story.

Then, in July of 2025, my Mom called me from her best friend's wedding rehearsal dinner. "Hey Kenz, Tina and Tara don't have a wedding videographer and I suggested to them you come and video it for them! Are you free tomorrow?" Tomorrow! The wedding was the next day and it was approximately 8pm the night before! Crazily, something told me that I should go for it. I said yes, had a very brief discussion with the brides on my mom's phone about what they wanted, they basically told me "do your thing!" and so I was like... alright. What is there to lose if it doesn't work out? I went the next day with my camera for free and shot it how I felt I could. In doing so, I discovered that being at weddings, capturing these special hours, celebrating the unique love between two people, was exactly where I wanted to be.

I LOVE working with couples.

From there, I started offering couples shoots to close friends to practice, and I will say... I was glued to Pinterest for those first few when it came to posing. Because I had no idea what I was doing, truly.

My first session I said "Yeah, 30 minutes tops and we will be done!" We shot for an hour and a half... and same with the next one. After getting a grasp on posing and what my personal style was, I have been able to consistently keep my couples shoots at 1 hour, not shorter, not longer. 1 hour is plenty for most! I typically deliver 30-60 photos, because I am a chronic over-shooter, but hey, what's so bad about that?

I also LOVE editing, and I pretty much always edit my galleries starting the day after the shoot at the latest. Sometimes I am so excited about a shoot, I can't help but edit it, sometimes completely, the same day. Having my background in Cinematography and Colour Grading, editing is one of my favourite parts. It's really where the final vision for the shoot comes to life. Where I can get what I pictured in my head onto the images. It is SO satisfying.

And that is basically how I started Just Kenzie Media. I realized I wanted to get serious about this business, I even dropped out of University to pursue it. I am ALL in on Just Kenzie Media, and I hope to work with you, reader, in the near future! Take care, and I hope this post was fun to read.
